Sound installation for the artists Ana Maria Tavares at Bienal de Artes de São Paulo.
The audio ran in Csound under linux triggered by i-cube sensors, resulting in a dynamic aleatoric score.
The composition algorithm manipulated a matrix of three sound sources (nature / city sounds / voice) into its mirrored degraded versions.
As long as nobody was present at the exhibitions, the space is filled with natural sounds. As perturbation from the audience occur, city sounds increase and slowly degraded FFT versions of the originals take over. The voice reads the text present in the work of Ana Tavares and is triggered by the spectators. Similar sonorizations were used for other exhibitions of Ana's work.
NICs was a cyberpunk rock band active during 1986-1988.
